Owen James has performed a soloist, ensemble member or bandleader in venues throughout the United States.  Whether as part of the Jazz/Funk trio "Trace," leading his own standards-based Owen James Trio, performing at the prestigious Jazz Kitchen as part of The Indianapolis Guitar Summit or joining legendary "drummist" Jack Gilfoy's Naptown Quintet, Owen has earned a reputation as an intuitive, uniquely sensitive musician.

At the same time, he has sought to expand the possibilities of the "singer-guitarist." Inspired by guitarists such as Michael Hedges, Tuck Andress and Ralph Towner, Owen has developed alternative techniques to enhance the sonic capabilities of his instrument, creating a virtual ensemble approach in which guitar and voice work together as a seamless entity.
